Science Class

(This is the Cookie munster and the Evil Elves)

Hello everyone! I am going to talk about Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday science class. The Evil Elves were a little bit behind the Cookie Monsters, but me and Davide came at lunch and also after school, and now we (The Evil Elves) are at the same position as the Cookie Monsters, because of me and Davide’s extra work. The Evil Elves are doing an awesome job on our compound machine!!! By the way, it is as tall as Davide(sorry Davide)!! And I think everyone in our group is doing a very good job and they are working as hard as they can.

On Tuesday's class we started to talk about the blog and comments, since some people did more than they had to on their comment, and Ms.D was also said who should do the scribe post for Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday - and it was me (Ghazaleh) and David Mamic. The Evil Elves (me, Tamara, Emilija, Ben, Eric, Nathan and Davide) were still Working on the gears, but that was just for a little bit of the class and then we started to work on the compound machine, but the Cookie Monsters started to work on their compound machine from the beggining of the class, so they had more time than we did...

On Thursday's class we started to talk about: when are we going to finish our compound machine and also talking about an email that we are spoussed to do when we are going to finish our compound machine. Ms.D also talked about the comments that we were spoussed to do to 8th or 7th grade. After we finished talking about the comments and the email and when we are supossed to finish our compound machine, then we started to build our compound machine. I made some mistake that was not good for our group, but Emilija came and helped me to correct my mistake. We were also missing a person of our group which was Tamara.
On Friday's class we started to talk about the comments and because some people did more than they had to on comment, so Ms.d asked them which one of the comments they wanted her to grade. After that she reminded me and David to do our Scribe Post for Tuesday May.10th.2011. After that Ms.D talked about the blog stuff then we again started to work on our compound machine.

Reflection post

This quarter blog I think I did a better job then last quarter blog because I used more pictures and I had better information, and I also think that I improved the English and so on. The other thing that I feel that I did better it was that science then the last quarter. But I think that next quarter I should improve: more information, put links, and recheck my work, and use different colors for each paraghraphs.

The good thing a bout blog is that when you are missing a class you could go and check blog because it tells what did we do in the class, and the other thing is that if you somehow cannot go on to moodel then you could check what was the homework for that day. The thing that I don't like about blog is that you have to make comments and this is the only thing that I really don't like a bout bloging.

Science Class - February 3rd, 2011

In Thursdays class we did the final tests of the Balloon Rocket Lab. In this lab we needed to design a balloon rocket that either went the farthest or went the fastest speed. Each group had their own design and each of these was tested three times. Each of the groups testings went well. Each group measured time (seconds), distance( meters) and calculated their rocket's average speed (m/s). To calculate speed you need to use the formula distance divided by time. You can see the version of the speed formula we use in Ms. D's class below. It tells you how to solve for distance, time or speed using the triangle method.

Every group used only one balloon, even though we were allowed to use two

in total. One group used 1.5 straws and the other three groups used 1 straw

each. The amount of tape also was different for every group. In my group we

used one straw and one balloon. Our rocket went an average distance of

19.65 m, in an average time of 7.56 s, which calculates to an average speed of

2.59 m/s. Our team didn't win, but we didn't lose either.

The way that we are suppose to finish this lab is to first finish finding the averages, the second step is that you have to have IV, DV, CV, UV and, the third one is that you have to draw a force diagram for are final balloon rocket (the final design). and the last three steps are the questions that was all. Thia are the questions:

1. Use Newton’s Three Laws of Motion to explain the motion of the balloon rocket from launch until it comes to a stop. All three must be mentioned and discussed. Keep in mind the scientific vocabulary you need to include in your writing!
2. If you had the opportunity to design your rocket one more time, what would you change and why?
3. NASA and the ESA are looking for new designs for rockets and space crafts in the future. Based on what you learned in this lab, what are some factors these two organizations need to keep in mind for their possible designs? Keep in mind Newton’s Three Laws and scientific vocabulary when answering this question.

Ghazaleh's Refletion Post for 2nd Quarter

There are many reasons that I like posting and also there are reasons that I don’t like posting. The reasons that I do like posting is when you miss a class you can go and find out what did we learn and what did Ms.D teach us that day. Or the other reason that I like posting is that you can sea other links that can maybe teach you something else a bout the thing that we learned in the class.

The reason that I don’t like blogging is because sometimes it cannot copy and paste, it does it not hyperlink it self. The thing that I really don’t like about blogging is that it takes to much time and it doesn’t do spell check for you and this are all the thing that I like about blogging and I don’t like about blogging.

I think next time when I am blogging the thing that I have improved is:
1. Use more colors
2. Put links and more photos
3. I check my spelling and my grammar
4. And include more scientific words

The things that I did well are:
1. Included an appropriate amount of detail
2. I included some pictures

The thing that I have to improved next quarter is to put effort and take more time. Check my spelling and grammar. For sure put more pictures and put likes and remember t9o hyperlink my links for sure. The thing I would like to for next time is to use more scientific word and use more colors to make it much nicer and clear.

Friday science class

On Friday we started the class by finishing the "Bean Bag Drop" lab, some people are almost finished with it and and some not. Ms.Erfle showed us how to do the graph and she also helped us with other thing that we had to do. The way she explained how to finish the graph was like this:

1. That we have to have the date and title at top of our page (and our graph should be line graph)

2.That we should label X the time and the Y should be distance

3.Then we have to label the numbers on our X-Y

4.Then we have to graph the average on the

Thus are the way we had to finish the lab. The second thing we had to do for the graph was to answer some questions that related to the graph. If we finished every thing that was for the graph then we could move on to the next thing that it was find the speed with the average and the distance. We only had to show the formula-plug-chug once at the top of our page. After we finished finding the speed problems then we could move on to the last thing that we had to do for the lab was to finish conclusions. In conclusion there is 5 questions in that we have to answer. After that you could organize your lab not book.
