Science Day/ Science Class 10 of February

Today we had Science Day/Normal Science Class!

We had a lot of fun showing little kids the experiments we did over the year and I think that they also enjoyed it. We had 1st Grade come in and then the 2nd Grade as well as 3rd Grade! The presentation was divided in four stations; Newton's Laws, Balloon Rocket Challenge, Friction Lab, and Class Blog!

Newton's Laws Station. The image shows Newton's First Law Inertia.

Balloon Rocket Challenge Station. The image shows how the Balloon Rocket can teach us about the Three Laws of Newton and why these laws are important to know in order to build a rocket.

Friction Station. The image shows how objects create friction when rubbing against each other.

The Blog Station. This image shows a presenter at the blog station after a hard day's work, teaching about the importance of blogging!

The presentations and stations were taking place in rooms 303 and 302 (Mr.Lewis and Mrs.Lewis). The times of the presentations were at 9-10am and 17:00-18:30pm. The morning presentations were for 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, and 3rd Grade, while the afternoon ones were for the whole school including parents!

The students were divided into four groups that presented every challenge. The morning presentations had an extra presentation on our famous CLASS BLOG! The afternoon groups look like this:

1. Ghazaleh-Tamara-Davide
2. Jakub-Ben-Valentina
3. Karin-Nathan-Emilija
4. Courtney-Chiara-David

We all had a lot of fun! At least I did! We all had a chance to look at the 8th and 6th Grade Science Experiments and Projects!

In Class we talked a little about science day and then we looked over our vocabulary!

Momentum: The product of an objects mass and velocity.

Law of Conservation: The rule that in the absence of outside force the total momentum of objects that interact does not change.

Momentum= mass x velocity

Momentum= p
Mass= m
Velocity= v

The link does not work! I have no idea why!!

  1. Nice improvement on this quarter's post Emilija. You have covered Science Day thoroughly and I love all of the pictures you have used. They have appropriate and helpful captions as well. I do think you could have used a different color for your font to separate the two main topics of this post - Science Day & normal science class. I am also disappointed your link to Moodle is not working. You could have had more links about the math we did in class or the vocabulary you covered from class. It would have spiced up the post a bit. You never really discussed the Momentum Math we worked on. Your spelling looks great and most of your grammar is fine. I do think you could have gone further with the explanation of the vocabulary and maybe included a picture (Newton's Cradle) that focused on the Conservation of Momentum, as this was a difficult concept to understand for much of the class. Overall this is an improvement and I am glad you tried to follow the directions as much as possible. Please come speak with me about how to put in a hyperlink that works. ~Ms. D.

  2. Hi Emilija! This post is much better than your last one! You had great pictures, talked a lot about Science Day, and explained momentum well. You could have added some more color to your text, though. You also focused more on Science DAy than the actual class, which you should try to improve next time. It would have been good with a fun link that explains momentum more, and you should try to fix the hyperlink. Your lables are good, but you should include the topic of the class instead of "Science day/Science class". Other than that, this is much better than last quarter. Good job!!! :)

  3. Hi there Emilija,
    Nice post! You had a lot of nice pictures that showed what we did in class! You included pretty much what we did, but you could have added some detail. As Viktor said, you could have added a link or two to explain more in detail what Momentum is. Also, you focused a bit too much on Science day and not enough on what we did in class. Your labels were good. I also think that you could have added some pictures that weren't about science day, and that you got from the internet. Your colors didn't show up, and I know that they sometimes do that, but you should go ahead and talk to Ms.D about the problem you have. You also should talk to her about your link not working. Your post was rather short, not including the pictures, so I think you could have added some more. Overall, great improvement from last year, and keep up the good work!

  4. Hi Emilija
    Good post! I liked how you have pictures from science day and how you explained what you did during the morning. It was nice that you explained what momentum is and that you put the equation of momentum. You could have had more color and tried to have the hyper link work. You could have also talked more about the actual science class more than you talked about the science day. You also could have tried to find a "fun link" about what you are learning in class. Overall this was a good post.

  5. Hi Emilija,
    Nice post. I loved the pictures and the captions and the picture of Courtney was really funny. I liked how you put everything we did on science day and the groups we were in and the vocabulary and notes we took. However most of your post was pictures and not that much information. I think that next time it might be usefull that if you do not find a link that works try and find a different one because this way we have not one link. But over all I think that this is a good post, much better than the one you did last quater.

  6. Hey Emilija,
    your post was great ;)
    It has really improved since last quarters blog! I LOVED the picture, and really liked the fact that you put captions near the pics. If I wasn't in class I would be grateful for the info. There are a few things that I would change and they are: grammar, and more info (because without the pictures the blog would be really short). Overall, great post!

  7. Hi Emilija,
    I liked how you explained about science day and how you had fun! I liked your picrures from science day and I liked how you put captions to the pictures so that we know what's going on. I also liked that you put the groups we were divided into and the vocabulary about momentum and The Law of Conservation. I thought that the picture of Courtney looked really funny and it made me laugh outloud. I also liked the equation you did for momentum. I thought that next time you could add more information and detail. Without your pictures your post would be really short. I also thought that you could've added much more information on what you did in class (I wasn't here so from this info. I can'r really imagine what you did in class). I also think you should've sked Ms.D about the link because, like you said, it didn't work.
    Overall I thought that your post this quarter was much better then the post that you did last quarter. Nice job!!

  8. Hi!

    So I think this Blog was ok. First of all I do like that you have pictures, and even those from the science-day. But you didn't explain anything of the experiments you did on science-day. I don't really know what you did on those experiments, only of the rocket-experiment, because i generally knew what it was. So what I am trying to say is that if any random person who is not in this school would read this they probably wouldn't get what the experiments are about. Also you could have changed the colours more often to let importent words stand out more. I don't know what that Moodle-link problem was about but at least you have apologized for that and you had good grammar and spelling. So overall it was an okay Blog.

    You made great progress from the last post. Your first sentence was very exactly and you had good use of pictures. You could add the definition of Newton's three laws and the experiments during science day; specifically for Balloon Rocket, Friction Lab and Newton’s First Law Challenge. I had some problems with reading the font and the color. Overall you made awesome improvement.
    Good job.

  10. Hey Emilija,
    This post is a great improvement on your last one. It had nice photos, and had captions to go with them. You really explained science day well, but not really what we did in class. You also could have included how each test worked and you maybe could have talked about how Newton's Three Laws where used in each test. I think you should try fixing the link to moodle, and use more color. But your formula for momentum is fine, and you did a pretty good job overall!!
