This Tuesday in class we first showed Ms.D our homework and then we went right to correcting it. Our homework was to finish Acceleration Calculations. Here are the answers:
1. a= 0.43 m/min/min
2. a= 102 m/min/min
3. a= -0.2 cm/s/s
4. a= 14285.71 km/h/h
5. a= 31578.95 km/h/h
6. a= 98 m/s/s
7. t= 5.10 sec
8. t= 0.09 h
And here is an example how to solve question 1:
vf= 15 m/min 1. a= vf-vi/t
vi= 2 m/min
t= 2 min 2. a= 15 m/min (vf) - 2 m/min (vi) / 2 min (t)
a= ? + acceleration
3. a= 0.43 m/min/min
Next we went over some words that we have to know for a test coming up this Friday. We learned that velocity isn't the same as speed and it means speed + direction. We also learned that acceleration means the change of direction= moving in circles. The formula for acceleration is a= vf-vi/t, but it can be writen in different ways like: t= vf-vi/a or vf-vi= a times t. We also went over the formula for speed which is: S= d/t. We also reviewed the acceptable units for distance, time, speed, and acceleration. Here they are: d= km, m, cm
t= h, min, days, years, sec
s= km/h, m/sec, cm/h, cm/sec
a= km/h/h, m/s/s, cm/h/h,
For Thursday, our homework is to finish Acceleration Calculations num. 2. For more info check moodle: http://zagreb.ceesa.net/course/view.php?id=188. There is also a quiz on Friday, December 3rd, there's a review session at lunch on Thursday. The quiz will be on how to use Formula-Plug-Chug (the math), study how to solve for speed, how to graph speed, how to solve for acceleration, how to make an acceleration graph, and know how to read and explain acceleration and speed graphs. You should also study the vocabulary words from motion to acceleration. Here are the explanations for these words:
Motion- an object is in motion if its distance from another object is changing
Reference Point- a place or object used for comparison to determine if something is in motion (has to be still)
Speed- the distance the object travels per unit of time
Average Speed- divide the total distance traveled by the total time
Instantaneous Speed- is the rate at which an object is moving at a given instant in time
Velocity- speed in a given direction
Slope- the steepness of a line on a graph
Acceleration- the rate at which velocity changes
DON'T FORGET FOR THE TEST ON FRIDAY!!! And the next scriber is BEN!

Hey!
ReplyDeleteI like that you have organized your Blog very well and colored important words and parts of the science-class. You might put some more pictures and a working link to the moodle-site. But still it seems to have good spelling, so overall a pretty good Blog.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI liked that you gave examples of both examples of how to solve it and the answers. I also think that you explained the words meant very good. You could have maybe made the font a bit nicer and you could have added more about why velocity is not the same as speed. Overall good job!
Hello Jakub,
ReplyDeleteI was really amazed by the cheetah picture which really represents velocity only you should have put links to other scientific websites. Also the answers that you put are great and helpful, but you could have put an example of how to solve all the questions. Excellent combination of green and purple colors, but shouldn't have changed the other colors. The formula for acceleration should have been in a separate paragraph, not in the middle of the text because it is very important. You explained perfectly what we have to study for the quiz. Your post is very easy to read and understand it but there is one thing you should fix which is to put headlines for each paragraph.
Go ahead in your work!
Dave. :D
Hi Jakub, I think that this is a detailed and good post! I liked the picture you added with the cheetah and some other information about velocity, and that you used good colors! You could have tried to hyperlink the link to the Moodle page and you could have explained what "vf", "vi", and "t" represent because I ave no clue. You could have explained why some answers to your questions have two units of time (for example min/min or h/h). Other than that, this was a great post! Nice job!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jakub!!! The whole post looks good, I like the picture, the colorful paragraphs, and the defenitions of Motion, Average Speed and things like that turned out well. The language that you used in the post is easy to read and definitely easy to use, but you know that Ms.D wants us to use the "scientific vocabulary". But your post is actually detailed (like Viktor said). And I think that you should hyperlink the link and may be put more pictures, pictures make your blog look more interesting to read and help you understand what you are talking about better. Still, you did a good job on your post, I like it!

Hey Jakub,
ReplyDeleteI liked your post, overall, you had a good variation of colours, a legible font, vocabulary list and definition, explanation and solution of the exercises you corrected in class and finally a nice picture on top of your blog-post. There are, although, a few mistakes you could have revised. For example, your link to Moodle didn't work and you could have gone a bit more far out with the scientific explanation of all the formulas you included (which is good) and you could have distinguished them from the whole paragraph, in some way. Also, since I am not in your class, I didn't clearly understand some things, that were explained too superficially. Overall, though, really good post.

Jakub - good first Scribe Post of the year. Your spelling and grammar look good, and I like the colors you have chosen for your font. The spacing in places is a bit awkward, but you have the different sections separated well. You explained everything we covered in class, and it was helpful that you included the information of what to study for the upcoming quiz. The math explanation from the homework sheet was rather confusing - and I think you could have posted a link to Moodle that was hyperlinked for the reader to see what the different questions were that we answered. It's good that you included a link to Moodle, but you should have a few more links that help explain what we covered and maybe explore some new information that would be helpful to this topic. In the future, please include the date of the class in an overall title, and be sure to use scientific vocabulary throughout the piece. Not bad for the first one. ~Ms. D.
ReplyDeleteJakub good post but there are some things that bother me. Mainly there are no links so this whole read is kind of boring. Also there is only one picture there is room for at least two maybe three. You could have put a diagram or really anything for this topic. Your spelling was good and you did include a lot of scientific stuff, but you never really got around to explaining it well enough so that I could understand this. You also did not include the meaning of the letters in your formulas nor did you make any references so that it is easier to understand. Could have used improvement but good for the first time.

Hi there Jakub,
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I really enjoyed reading it since it was easy to read and your font was great. You only had a few grammatical errors, and your spelling is great! You explained with detail what we did in class. Your colors are great. You included scientific terms, which is great. You gave tons of information on interesting fact, and your formula for acceleration was great! Your picture was great, but you could have added a couple more, to make your post a bit more interesting. You only had one link to moodle, and you forgot to hyperlink it, so I couldn't see it. You gave enough backup information for everyone to understand what we did, and your descriptions of the different words were very thorough. You gave the right homework, and you reminded the 7th graders about the test, which I think is great! You gave the answers for the previous homework, and that was helpful. Overall, great first post!

Hi Jakub,
ReplyDeleteOverall, your post was pretty good, but first of all, you could've added a title, and other than that you could've improved the layout of your post so it was easier to follow, especially from the point of view of someone who has not been in the class. Other than that, it was good that you wrote about the science-related portions of the class, providing the definitions for motion, etc, as well as providing the answers to a sheet, and an example solved problem.
